Luke writes that the Jews in Berea were of more noble character.
They received Paul’s message about Jesus with eagerness. Then they went to study the Scriptures to verify what Paul had said (Acts 17:11).
In this way, shouldn’t we all be like the Bereans?
It’s noble of us if we check the Bible to confirm what people tell us about God. We hope they speak truth, but we must verify they aren’t promoting error.
This includes what we hear on Sunday from our ministers and what we hear throughout the week from everyone else.
This doesn’t mean we need to be distrustful, doubtful, or confrontational. But we must verify. When we do so, and with the right attitude, we prove our noble character.
