Although I sometimes make the same mistake, I get frustrated when people say the word just in their prayers. When we do, we diminish God’s power and his love for us.
The primary meaning of just is being fair, honorable, and morally right. But this isn't what most people mean when they say “just.”
The secondary meaning is barely, by a narrow margin, or merely, as in just enough to get by. We should never ask God to give us just enough.
Instead, we should pray with boldness, not out of greed or selfishness, but as a reflection of his abundance to amply provide for us and to do so completely.
Let us seek God's full provision and not just a little bit of it.
Consider This
“Though God showed remarkable patience and mercy over the centuries toward his people’s repeated disobedience, his judgment finally arrives at the hand of Nebuchadnezzar.” -Peter DeHaan, from Heroes and Heavies of the Apocrypha
