Being holy and good are God-honoring pursuits.
We’ll do well to strive toward holiness and goodness—provided we have the right motivation.
In the Bible, the Pharisees were holy and good. They were more righteous than any other (Matthew 5:20).
But Jesus often criticized the Pharisees because they pursued their right living with a legalistic mindset and for the praise of people.
We’ll also suffer the same rebuke if we pursue righteousness in a legalistic way and to be esteemed by others.
Instead of striving to be holy and good we’re better off desiring to be Godly and Biblical.
To be Godly is being like him.
To be Biblical is doing what is says—what it truly teaches. All of it.
Now go do it.
