Most people don’t think of themselves as being slaves. We are, after all, free through Christ. Yet everyone is a slave to something. It’s just that most people don’t realize it.
Paul writes that we are slaves to the one we obey. We’re either slaves to sin or slaves to obedience (Romans 6:16).
If we allow sin to dominate our lives, we give ourselves to it. We obey it. And we become slaves to it
If we allow right living to dominate our lives, we give ourselves to it. We obey it. And we become slaves to righteousness.
Through Jesus, we’ve been set free from sin. We become slaves to God. This is how we reap holiness and result in eternal life (Romans 6:22).
